The Masai Mara Game Reserve is often called simply "The Mara" which is the Maa word meaning "Mottled" - a reference to the patchy landscape. Both spellings "Masai" and "Masai" are acceptable although the latter is more usual when referring to the people. The masai mara is famous for great migration which happens every year. The Maasai are a proud semi-nomadic cattle-rearing people with a fascinating culture. They are divided into a number of sub-tribes some of which share the Mara region. They have a very special relationship with cattle which are essential to their life-style. The Masai have survived a troubled history but are under increasing pressure to conform with modern society
This area is home to many Masai communities, centred around the Amboseli National Park. The park is 400 sq kms, with its southern boundary along the Tanzanian border. .
 

Day 1:Nairobi-Masai Mara
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive down the escarpment via the floor of the Great Rift Valley, to arrive at Maasai Mara Game Reserve in time for lunch. Lunch enroute. Later proceed for an afternoon game drive to chance to see one of the active hours of hunters for a meal.. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or keekrok lodge masai mara.

Days 2: Masai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives from the comfortable base of the camp, explore the parks amazingly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya's finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Although July, August andSeptember are the months when the Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest and zebra, there is also resident wildlife year round. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve. Meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or keekrok lodge masai mara.

Day 3:Masai Mara -Nairobi
Depart from the camp in the msorning and drive north while viewing game and make a stopover at Narok town with a chance to buy a souvenir or a cup of tea to arrive back in by late afternoon.

4 Days Masai mara only:

5 Days Nakuru/Masai Mara safari:

Day 1: Nairobi-Lake Nakuru
At 09:00 hours, drive from Nairobi for a journey south along the floor of the Great Rift to the ornithological paradise for Lunch (picnic lunch en-route). This afternoon, enjoy game and bird viewing in nearby Lake Nakuru National Park. Dinner and overnight at Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru/ Lake Baringo
After breakfast leave Lake Nakuru for Lake Baringo making a stopover near Lake Bogoria to see the hot springs and geysers. Flamingos can be viewed while exploring this area by foot. Then continue to Lake Baringo, a fresh lake with over 450 species of Birds. This afternoon, enjoy a guided bird walk or take a boat trip to view hippos, birds which inhabit this lake. From here we drive back to Nakuru for dinner and overnight at Lion Hill Lodge.

Day 3: Nakuru-Mara
After breakfast depart for Masai Mara. The famous Mara is renowned for its great herds of plains' game, black-maned lion, leopard and cheetah, but also contains numerous elephant and virtually every type of wildlife to be found in Kenya. All meals and overnight at the Mara Sopa Lodge

Day 4: Masai Mara
Explore this unique park which reforms the northern part of the Serengeti National Park. Take a morning game drive viewing across the rich, tree studded grasslands and rolling hills. Afternoon optional nature walk or a visit to a Masai village. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 5: Mara-Nairobi
Enjoy very early morning game drive before breakfast. After break fast at the camp, leave Masai Mara for Nairobi.

The Lake Nakuru park also contains largest population of rhinos.The surface of the lake occupies about a third of the lake park.
